Meaning of Chur.

Often we are asked what Chur means:

Chur is an Alpine city and the capital of the Graubünden canton in eastern Switzerland. Winding streets in the car-free old town lead to the 13th-century, three-naved Cathedral of the Assumption, in the courtyard of the Bishop's Palace. The Brambrüesch aerial cableway ascends to a platat - this however, has absolutely nothing to do with who we are or what we do. We’ve never been there and don’t even know if the fish and chips there are any good.

Chur is a kiwi slang word which can be used in many situations. Its widely consider to be a shortening of the word cheers. It can be used as a greeting, or as goodbye and to say thanks. It;s also used when something is cool, sweet or all good “Fish & Chips for dinner?……Chur!” Kiwi comedian Jimi Jackson describes Chur as “probably the greatest word ever, invented” we definitely agree.
